Album History

Originally released on Blue Note Records in 2014, ‘Rising Son’ marked Takuya Kuroda as the first Japanese artist signed to the label. The album topped Japan’s jazz charts and has since become a sought-after collector's item.

Label Collaboration

First Word Records, celebrating its 20th year in 2024, collaborates with Kuroda again after releasing his previous albums.

Artist Background

Kuroda, a Kobe-born trumpeter based in Brooklyn, blends jazz fusion, soul, hip hop, and afrobeat influences.

New Additions

This 2024 reissue includes a remix of ‘Everybody Loves The Sunshine’ by Joe Armon-Jones, known for his work with Ezra Collective.
